This one is not even close to questionable. It is a clear fake, a miserable one at that. Who do these guys think they are fooling. I guess they are fooling someone becuase this ball will probally end up selling.
This is an obvious fake and I have forwarded this auction to Ebay's Safe Harbour. At the moment that I posted my comment here, this miserable fake has been bid up to $76.00. I've been investigating the fake autograph memorabilia industry for over two years now and I still find it astounding that people (not collectors) still bid on garbage like this. But, one of the very many positive things that have come from this blog is that I am noticing more and more collectors getting involved in this blog and contributing comments and findings. Keep up the great work people, and a big THANK YOU to Kelly, the owner of this blog.
Yay! I am the one who posted this on the previous jeter fake from spring training. chris, did you ever get a chance to look at the other ones I listed on that post? And how sad, this sold for $81.00. I bought a UD Etchings Jeter Auto last year for only $47.00 and that is authenticated by Upper Deck. How does this always happen? I wish I had a real job of working for the FBI in catching forgeries. Not only would it be fun but it would get people in trouble.
The seller (Easysellauction) of this fake autographed baseball has put up an exact fake duplicate of the one listed above. The item number is 8816449365. Incredible!
