1954 Yankees Team Signed Baseball

One of our readers submitted this auction on eBay. It is for a 1954 team signed Yankees baseball with the following signatures.

Mickey Mantle, Joe DiMaggio, Vic Raschi, Bobby Richardson, Mel Allen, Bill Dickey, Don Larsen, Elston Howard, Casey Stengel, Hank Bauer, Billy Martin, Ed Lopat, Bobby Brown, Johnny Kucks, Yogi Berra, Irv Noren, Bob Cerv, Phil Rizzuto, Bill Hunter, Gene Woodling, Ralph Houk, Enos Slaughter, Charlie Silvera, Lou Berberet, Andy Carey

The ball is authenticated by Cooperstown Sports Collectibles and it went for $405 on eBay? The eBay seller was niemiojas.

Does anyone know who the authenticator is? We encourage ALL people to comment on this including the seller!

Who is Cooperstown Sports Collectibles? I never heard of them nor can I find them anywhere. Are they a authenticated company like PSA? Can the owner of this baseball provide information about them? Thank you.....Chris W.

The ball looks legit - I have several from that era, and the condition matches. There is one thing that would possible raise concern...I can tell if a signature is real, but I am not an expert in age/ink - On a few of my baseballs, it looks like the signatures might be stamped, but I have had several people tell me that that is simple how fountain pen sigs look...The price was fair, but I would certainly send it to JSA...

it shows a lot of age to it but that could be misleading.you also have to worry about "dugout sig's" because that was a common practice in the 50-60's.psa on a full loa exaim would sample the ink and compare it to known used ink during that time.another way this could be bogus if it was purchased as a vintage unsigned baseball then forged.keeping it under direct sunlight for 6 monthsd would probaly fade the sig's
i put nothing past anybody

I'm not really an expert, I just have seen thousands of his sigs over the past 6 years - real and fake. This sig looks questionable. I have seen several Pujols items from Coach's Corner that I personally would avoid. Who the hell is "Stat authentic and Morales authentic" anyway? There are certan characteristics of this autograph that match early Pujols sigs. But If I worked for PSA, I would be inconclusive. I would not buy this item. How's that?

Also JETER_SUCKS, you are right about not putting anything past anyone. I read in Bullpen that they would put a "Babe Ruth" ball into a bag of dog food for a few days so that it would smell old. and use the sunlight trick you just spoke of. Good point.

I just bought a Peyton Manning signbed Wilkson footabl authenticated by Authentic Graphs.com ( not a web site). I can't find any reference on the internet to this authenticator. It has the usual stuff 0 picture of Peyton signing. There is a phone number and address (I can call it I guess). The seller is not Pwere and I dont think he sells memorablilia regularly. In fact he has 100% feedback and has sold only 19 times - this is first autograph item based on my interp of feedback. So I think seller is legit. But I want to know if the sutograph is legit. Anyone ever hear of Authentic Graphs.com ??? Thanks

Sorry for my spelling errors . Again, in case my spelling confused you. I bought a Peyton Manning signed football authenticated by Authentic Graphs.com - is this a legit authenticator?? Anyone know anything or where I can find out. This is for my son and I paid about $250 for it thru auction.

Victor, there is a long story behind seller "Authentic-Graph" which I wrote about in a previous post. You may want to go through the previous posts and look for it. I will try a shortened verson here. First of all seller "Authentic-Graph" has three Ebay ID's including "Authentic-Graph2" and "Authentic-Graph3." The address they use is one of those "mail forwarding" addresses similar to a "Mailbox Etc." A few years ago they were selling a ton of very suspicious autographs on Ebay. I submitted a few of their autographs to "Quick Opinion" and not one passed. Then all-of-a-sudden all three of his Ebay ID's sold a few thousand autographs that were all authenticated by GAI. I am not a believer of GAI because 95% of the Derek Jeter autograph items that I have seen that were authenticated by GAI are not Derek's autograph. Well recently they were two sellers on Ebay (they are both now "Unregistered") that were selling hundreds of autograph items with COA's from "Authentic-Graph." Those two sellers were "Sportscards2k6" and "Sportscardsetc2007." By the way, both of those sellers were the same person. I caught onto them because they were selling a lot of fake Ryan Howard autograph items. I also submitted some of their items (Peyton Manning autograph items) with a COA from "Authentic-Graph" to "Quick Opinion" and they came back as "Likely Not Genuine" as I knew they would. Do yourself a favor and put it up for bid on Ebay and then submit it to "Quick Opinion." After the result comes back you can take it down. Send us the Ebay Item Number if you can......Chris W.

dog food??wow thats a lot of serious thought put into that one.i never read bullpen but the sunlight thing is just common sense.
authentic-graph,1,2,3 should be taken out and hung on a pole.i will tell you how they are getting away with selling fakes.they use the famous"bait and switch" for readers who dont know what that is they post of image of a authentic signature(or close to it)and then send you a fake so ebay enever sees the fake they cant remove it.thats why you see other sellers actually resseling there fake items getting kicked off with no action taken towards the source.they are on my hit list after there actions last year they stole a signing photo from one of my rpivate signings and insert the image into there coa.
wanna buy a 200%real ryan howard signature buy from his agent rob mitchell
www.simplyawesome.com

rem. when shopping for howard autographs he has never done a paid signing outside of his exclusive deal with mitchell marketing, all items signed public and private have the howard hologram

Again I am on a misson to take Coachs Corner Down. STAT Authentic was created by a former member of Fleer trading cards. I think their autograph knowledge is slim to none considering the fact that I have seen many autographs passed as authentic which are tuly forged. Opinions are opinons but if you cant tell an obvious fake from a fake, you have no right to question an autograph. I feel have I have years and years of experience of mocdern era autographs, but I still dont consider myself an expert. The people PSA/DNA and GAI are the same as me, they have been autograph chasers and qualify in the same expertise as me. I honestly think I can do better authenticating autographs all modern era then they can. Its kinda sad when you see fake Jeter autographs deemed authentic, and believe me I lived in Tampa before I joined the Marine Corps, and have gotten him in person over 15 times, all on Baseballs and Bats, so I find it ammusing, yet sad that other collectors are buying these autographs. We all need to come together and start a modewrn day autograph authenicating company.

I could put a talented class of third graders in a room with 100 fakes...and all of the exemplars they need to make a determination. I bet many of those childred could do a fair job distinguishing real from fake. As far a starting an authenticating compnay...not sure I would want to do it. I have said in other posts that I can buy stuff that is real pretty cheap becasue everyone avoids it (stuff that has no authentication, usually in-person). I really have no use for PSA/etc. I only ask for thier opinion on olders stuff that people rarely see...like my 1926 Cardinals collection...Even then there are some quality dealers around here who are selling thier in-person stuff from when they were kids so that they can retire. JSA is good for those who sell autographs for a living. Authentication certainly gets a higher price....

The comments in here by everyone have been very informative and encouraging. Although I am far from an expert on autographs (even the authenticators at PSA and GAI aren't experts, especially those at GAI!!!) and even though I know Derek Jeter's autograph very well, I use more common sense than anything when it comes to exposing the "bad guys" at Ebay, and that's what most buyers lack on Ebay specifically. As an example let's use the buyers of seller's "Fansindastands" forged autograph items. Although his auctions are "Private" I can easily assume the same buyers are bidding on his fake autograph items. They know he sells the same items week after week and yet how many ask the question "How do you acquire all of your autograph items?" But then again I will bet you a week's pay that many of the winning bidders of his auctions are people who know his items are fake. They are local dealers who are buying his forged team-signed football helmets for approximately $250-$300 and then selling them locally for twice or three times his purchase price. I will continue this comment later on.....Chris W.

I have a confession to make! I have read your blog on several occasions and I finally realized something! You see, I am one of the bad guys you talk about who sell fake autographs! This is not a joke! I feel really bad when I read this blog and come to the realization that I am a pretty worthless individual. I am really ashamed and I have decided that I will stop immediately! So guys, when others criticize your efforts, remember that you did get to one of the bad guys and now he is trying to get his act back together! I got caught up in the selfish greed and lost my integrity in the process! Tell you readers to be aware! It is easy for the bad guys to steal from them! Just sign me a damn fool!

I wrote a response but it failed to post, so I am redoing it under name anonymous - this is a diff anonymous - this is Victor who posted earlier trying to get a post on - I hope it works:

Thanks for all your help Anon and BigT260 - Here is what else I know. authenticgraph.com has a website and they sell lots of autos, mainly photos and index cards. Footballs is a category too but non available now. Lots of signed baseball bats though! I also called their phone number in Delaware at 410-808-1700 and they said send an email to authecticgraph2.com. I have yet to do that. I then took your advice and went to the EBAY web and did a QUICK Opinion on my ball for auction # 120076513204 - Peyton Manning autographed NFL football. It seems that even if I have bought this I can get an opinion after the fact since the auction photos *which are good* is still up there. Do you really think that Authenticgraph (s) .com is s company specialising in fraudelent autographs. They don't seem to have a large supply, which implies that since there stuff is so limited, they might actually be for real and not selling fakes?? I realy dont know and you guys are the experts - so thanks for any more feedback you may give me.

Victor, I do believe you answered your own question about seller "Authentic-Graph" and his aliases. Even before their autograph items were so-called "authenticated by GAI" their items never passed "Quick Opinion" and I never believed all of those photos they had posted. GAI is another story in itself. Bigtruck and I have always had a ton of suspicions about GAI.....Chris W.

I'd like to address this to Mr. Anonymous who claims he "is one of the bad guys." If you really are or were one of the "bad guys" then maybe you could assist us in our investigations. If you really do "feel bad" about what you have done in the past then maybe you can attempt to redeem yourself by helping us get rid of the "bad guys." Fill us in on what they do, how they do it, etc. Over the two years that I've been this this investigation I have a very good idea as to how they do it, etc., but maybe you can give us more insight into the mind and activities of the "bad guys" that we expose here. I also want to mention this to our readers here and that is that many of the "bad sellers" are women. I'm not sure that the women are doing the forging (or maybe they are since women for the most part have better handwriting than us men) but women are sellers of forged autograph items. So if you really are who you say you are then help us out and comment here. We don't care if you remain anonymous or not, just give us more insight into the activities of the sellers of forged autograph items on Ebay......Chris W.

At 9:02 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

A lot of people have written me asking me why I do this. The simple fact is that what these "bad guys" do is wrong and against the law. These people are committing a crime. They are intentionally selling forged autograph items in exchange for money. That is fraud! There is no gray area here, it is black and white. Some of what I will write here I've written before, but this is for the benefit of those who have not read this blog in the past. First of all, what I investigate on Ebay is a tiny piece of the fake autograph industry that is occurring on Ebay at this moment. I can't count the number of times when I try to tell a bidder that they are bidding on an obvious fake autograph item and many times their reply is "Then why does Ebay allow it to be up for bid?" The problem is that Ebay does it allow it. They almost give these "bad sellers" a license to sell fake autograph items. I will give you some examples. Let's take ex-seller "Onlinesportsnmore." They've sold over 7500 fake autograph items on Ebay. Last January they had to stop selling their crap on Ebay. But about five months ago Ebay allowed them back on to sell their fake autograph items again. They are "No longer registered" on Ebay, but not before Ebay allowed them to sell 7500 fake autograph items. Let's take seller "Americansportscollectibles." I proved to Ebay 18 months ago that they were selling fake autograph items. They were selling a ton of fake autographed footballs (mainly from Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning, Joe Montana, Dan Marino, etc). It wasn't until he had sold over 2500 fake autographed footballs that he was removed from Ebay. Another example. Check out seller "Pjuice1757." Now Ebay is well aware that Tiger Woods does not sign golf balls for anyone. And yet seller "Pjuice1757" just put up their 10th fake Tiger Woods autographed golf ball (Ebay Item Number 230083813121). Let's take seller "dqbean252." I proved to Ebay that his autograph items are fake and yet Ebay allows them to continue selling that same Tiger Woods fake autographed ball. How many millions of dollars in profits has Ebay made from the sales of forged autographed items! What percentage of Meg Whitman's salary is from the sales of fake autograph items? What is it called when a company is allowed to make profits from sales of fraud? How is it that a company can make money from the sales of auctions but bear no responsibility of the content from those sales of forged autograph items? When is Ebay going to bear some of the responsibility from the sales of forged autograph items on their auction site? One day they will be held accountable.....Chris W.

Ok, here goes! IIt is easy to sell fakes on ebay! First make sure you are familiar with the players autograph. If you sign enough ,eventually you will become very proficient. Obtaining items to sel is simple, you can buy them anywhere. Put them on Ebay and go from there. Sometimes ebay takes them off, but most times unless some one reports the item, eBay does not remove them. I sold quite a few items, I will not say how many. Since reading your blog, i cant believe how many fake items are on eBay. Some of the fakes are very good , and some are horrible. People buy the good fakes and more people buy the horrible ones. Ebay does nothing and the FBI hasnt done much since Bullpen! If Ebay would suspend sellers after the third removable, most of the problem would be solved!Hope this helps, i am truly sorry and embarrased that I sold my integrity and dignity for a few bucks! Badguy

At 10:05 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Well, Badguy, hopefully you have stopped selling your fakes. We already know that it is easy to buy unsigned items in bulk so that they may be forged, and like I have mentioned numerous times, the problems of forged autograph items on Ebay wouldn't be as bad as it is now if it wasn't Ebay. They allow it. They almost encourage it. They almost give these "bad sellers" a license to sell their forged autograph items. You have no idea the thousands of repetitive reports (with documented proof) that I have filed with Ebay about the same "bad sellers" and yet Ebay does nothing about it 98% of the time. Ebay should be ashamed of themselves for profiting on the sales of forged autograph items. Most people have no idea how enormous the problem is on Ebay. It's even worse with entertainment (actors, musicians, etc) autographs. It's much worse. I know of one seller (they are now "Unregistered" on Ebay) who sold approximately $500,000 worth of fake autographed guitars. Think about that! And that's just one seller! The problem with forged autographs on Ebay is at an all-time high and Ebay is making huge profits from those sales. I just read where Ebay's Net Income for the 4th quarter was $346 Million Dollars. I wonder how many millions were from the sales of forged autograph items.....Chris W.

I have a quaetion for "badguy". At any point did people email you telling you that your itme was fake? What types of lies did you tell potential customers?

In your description, did you say that items were aquired in person?

What was your area of expertise?

I understand that human beings are generally weak, and that the thought of making good money for basically nothing is alluring...however, you are only a small fraction of the tons of fake sellers on eBay. If you are truly a former seller of fakes - I am glad that you stopped because of this blog. Although, I can't fully commit to the idea of a fake seller laying down his/her pen and confessing in a public forum.

If you don't mind answering my question above - I would love to keep you around the blog. did you start off selling real autographs? What got you into stealing from people?

I could be wrong on this but could seller "sportcardmania-com" be the former authentic-graph? check out item#140078250383. If it is the same guy-I challenge Chris & the rest of those who read this blog to get him kicked off ebay like we did with authentic-graphs!! Any suggestions? Groovy Dude

Check out Ebay Item Number 140077872584 by the seller named in the previous comment. Once again it's a GAI Authenticated baseball of David Wright and it is very questionable. Just shows how hungry GAI is for repeat business from sellers that send them autograph items in bulk. This David Wright is very suspicious and Ebay won't do anything about it since GAI is pre-qualified as a authenticator for Ebay. Incredible.....Chris W.

Ok Bigtruck! I was emailed a couple of times from customers who thought the items were fake. I just offered them a refund. Somestimes they took it , sometimes they kept the item. Area of expertise was NFL photos! Stated in auctions items were signed in person at NFL games and training camps. Actually I started after I bought a fake Autographed photo and discovered how easy it seemed to be! I realize you have a hard time understanding why a seller of fakes would confess in a public forum, however, I really feel bad and in the past I was a legit guy! I was weak and greedy and am ashamed of it! Once I was contacted by a buyer with a concern that my item was a fake! He did not want a refund, he wanted to know how he could sell fake items! !

chris i dont know what you pitch at ebay when you report sellers and items with all your detailed information but i would refrain from trying to tell them gai signed item on ebay is fake.we all know that company sucks but there more likely to find your information convenicing when your not telling them one of there "pre-certifed" authenticators isnt reputable

i really dont think think ebay knows as much as you think about what players sign and dont sign.im a platium powerseller meaning i sell at least 25,000 in sales per month and i have a direct hotline with ebays safe harbour and vero. you have to understand each catogory has a catogory manager that oversee's activity.i really doubt he/she knows tiger woods doesnt sign golfballs or flags.
in my opinion they cant police there entire site.they mostly only act on reports from other ebayers and also do proactive searchs for different things from time to time.ebay has setup there network for the person of interest to police there own interest.ebays vero program is where its at only sad thing is nobody signs there guys up.if you have a exclusive deal with a athlete you can act on there behalf and remove auctions with no questions asked.even if the athlete isnt exclusive his actual agent in my mind is the man responable for protecting his clients name via vero program.
this is where the industry is really lacking, the top of the food chain doesnt act

I have never reported a GAI item to Ebay because I know they are pre-qualified as a authenticator on their site, so that would be useless, but I will make my feelings known here about the subject of GAI. I will disagree with you as to whether or not Ebay can police the majority of their site. When they allow previous sellers of forged autograph items back on to sell again then that is a major problem. And this has happened hundreds of times. I have mentioned in this blog numerous times sellers who have sold literally thousands of fake autograph items that Ebay either takes it's time removing or fails to take any action at all. No matter what anyone writes in this blogs I will not let Ebay off the hook. Although I appreciate and respect your comments, I cannot agree with you. How does Ebay justify allowing a known seller of forged autograph items to be allowed back on to sell a few thousand more before they are removed? It's all about money. If profits are down then the share price goes down. I mentioned previously that Ebay's net income the last quarter was $346 million dollars. I wonder how many millions of that were derived from the sales of forged autograph items. And that title of "Power Seller" doesn't impress me. The majority of crooks on Ebay are so-called "Power Sellers." It means that they've sold a "significant volume of forgeries" on a monthly basis and that their feedback is 98% (which doesn't impress me either). Following "Operation Bullpen" Ebay was relieved of any responsibility for the millions of dollars of forgeries sold on their site and that set a bad precedent and the bad guys took advantage of that judgment. Shame on Ebay....Chris W.

fansindastands does what he does with total disregard to anything.. if anyone else has been watching him for a while, when cory lidle died it seemed like the next day fansindastands had about 10 balls signed by him. when steve irwin died, there was 5 balls signed by him. if you're that sick, you have no morals. he doesn't care that he is ripping people off, and he'll take advantage of any situation to get that money. i'm suprised he didn't have any baseballs signed by sadam hussein. but maybe some weekend they will pop up and be mixed in with the usual inventory of bears, colts, cardinals, yankees, and eagles team signed items. chris, the question i wanted to email you i will ask you here. i have seen you mention a ring of asian sellers numerous times, is it possible that fansindastands may be involved with them? i think chiali something was a seller whos inventory was similar to fandindastands- an endless supply of star athletes, with forgeries close enough to trick the average "wannabe collector"

At 7:11 AM , Anonymous j-man said...

i also wanted to add soemthing about fansindastands... if anyone has ever read through all his feedback, he actually bought (i think it was) a case of baseballs. there was a followup feedback from the seller that fansindastands actually got his money refunded from paypal, i guess he said he never recieved his item. the seller wrote to him "enjoy your free baseballs. what goes around comes around". is it a coincidence that someone who buys a case of baseballs would have an endless supply of signed balls? if you want to be a career crook, don't be so obvious. i hope jeter_sucks is right that days are numbered for fansindastands. i'd love to see him come down. but i bet it's a sure thing he'd be back in a month or so on another name.

ebay has extremly high tech software that can connect the dots for shill bidders.for example if you log onto ebay with your computer it records your "i.p. address"if i were to log onto a secondary account or use my friends password to logo onto his from the same computer it red flags ebays software as shill bidding and trust and safety will knock it down.also within there software if there lets say chris in ny and jeter sucks in boston.we are constaly bidding on each others auctions it gets red flaged

Chris and I busted him last year...he was running about 10 different accounts simultaneously. When we called him on it, he close every one and started up with another 10 accounts. At first, when he accidentally won one of his own items, he would leave feedback like: "WOW passed PSA,appraised at $700" - you can see it if you look at his feedback. He runs his auctions private now so that we can't see his shadiness. At one time his auctions would always show that a critical bid retraction was made after the desired price was met...I HATE THIS DUDE.

I know that seller "Fansindastands" probably doesn't have a buddy on Ebay that gives him a "license" to sell the same forged autographs week after week but that is my way of venting. I know his auctions are all one-day auctions that are only released on the weekend, but Ebay has the capability of voiding any auction that has already ended. And they can easily see what he has been selling in the past and suspend for the forged stuff he has already sold. They may remove him somewhere down the road but not until they make as much money as they can from the sales of his fake autograph items. And if my frustration shows in my writing then so be it. We all have a right in here to be frustrated by Ebay's allowance of these "bad sellers" to continue their fraudulent activities. Activities that Ebay is making money on. And "jeter-sucks" is right on the money when he writes that Ebay can easily catch shill-bidding based on the bidders ISP. It's an easy thing for Ebay to catch. And J-Man makes a great point about seller "Fansindastands" who is taking advantage of some football fans by selling the same forged football helmets of the Bears, Saints, Eagles and Colts. As for that Asian Connection, they deal strictly in forged autographs of 8X10 photos. They only deal in photos because they can be easily copied, are easier to forge because of the flat surface and because they are cheap to ship. Bigtruck mentioned that we busted seller "Pjuice1757" late last year and Ebay suspended his other Ebay ID's but for some reason (fees and commissions?) they have given him a license to sell his forged Tiger Woods golf balls. We report him to Ebay every week and Ebay does absolutely nothing. And when I write that Ebay knows these sellers are selling forged autograph items, I write it with 110% confidence that they know or I wouldn't be putting this in writing. Ebay is a major part of the problem. Just think of the amount of money Ebay would lose in a day if they suspended every crook that I reported to them. And that's why they don't suspend them. It's all about the money. I wonder how much of Meg's millions are tainted.....Chris W.

Great news tonight folks! Ebay removed all of seller's "Fansindastands" auctions! After Bigtruck and I have literally filed at least 100 complaints with Ebay about that seller we were getting frustrated. Last night and this morning I emailed Ebay two angry complaints about him. Now whether or not my emails had anything to do with Ebay removing his fake autograph auctions is up in the air, but the bottom is Ebay finally took action. It's about time.....Chris W.

thats awesome about fansindastands! but now he has private feedback. i wonder what he's trying to hide?? it's no secret that he sells fakes. let's see how long it takes until he lists again.

Making Your Feedback Profile Public or Private

Your Feedback Profile is a valuable asset that helps you earn the trust of other eBay members.

If you keep your Feedback Profile public, you’ll increase the chance other members will trade with you. Most members want to see a member's Feedback Profile before they trade with them.

If you choose to make your Feedback Profile private, your Feedback comments will be hidden from other members. (They will still be able to see the number of positive, neutral and negative Feedback you’ve received.) If you have a private Feedback Profile, you will not be able to sell items on eBay.
does that mean it's the end of his crime spree?

I have read some helpful tips to recognizing authentic autographs on this site but still have a question. If an autographed item comes with a COA from a reputable company like Steiner or Mounted Memories, could it still be fake? Thanks.

At 7:32 PM , Anonymous j-man said...

most of the high end companies have tamper proof holograms where one is on the COA and one is on the actual item, with matching numbers. so i would think it's not very common with them that the item would be fake.

At 9:18 PM , Blogger bigtruck260 said...

Here is the deal with Mounted Memories and Steiner and Tri-Star and Exclusive Sports Promotions...and Elite (although some of you have issues, honestly, I think that their autographs are legit.) Anyway, these companies have contracts with athletes for private signings. During the signings, they witness each autograph and place a hologram on the item and another on the COA (or in some cases, the COA is a credit card type device with a unique serial number). sometimes but not always, MLB is paid to have a representative (often from Deloitte and Touche) who places an additional MLB sticker on the item. The companies mentioned above are the leaders in their indusry - and as far as I know, have NEVER encountered an authenticity issue. I have however see fake Tri-Star Coa's and even once saw someone put a large MLB hologram (the holograms found on 8x10 photos) on baseballs and baseball bats. If someone says that an item has a MLB hologram on it, ask for the serial number and look it up on MLB.com. That's a GREAT tip for a beginning collector.

Great news about fansindastands. Finally, justice for J-Man.

By the way, I forgot to mention Schwartz sports...also a reputable company and Barry Sanders's exlcusive memorabilia dealer.

Back to the original post...about the old team signed baseball.

Look, I have said this before and I will repeat it - I am NOT an expert. However, I am very familiar with Cardianls autographs from the 20's-50's, as I am currently working on aquiring from that area. Check out this item : 330082716348 - the ball is real, and that is about it. ROGERS Hornsby was probably the best hitter in Cards history...Jim Bottomley is a VERY rare autograph, as he died in 1959. Burleigh Grimes was the last legal spitball, and a HOFer (like the other two). Whoever forged this ball did not even spell Rogers Hornsby's name correctly. The Grimes sig is not even close to the 6 examples I have in front of me from various decades. The Bottomley sig is also pretty bad. if PSA or JSA says that this is real, we have a problem. I wouldn't be suprised if this is an Operation Bullpen ball.

in reference to pjuice and ebay letting him sell you must look at all options.he could of had some auctions removed and closed his account on his own or been placed on probation for 3-6 months.we dont know because ebay doesnt give out personal information

exclusive sports and promations is kinda shady.i would refrain from putting them in the same class with steiner and mounted.esp owner kenny pearson is known by many to be very shady.many claim to know for a fact he has sold tons of fakes over his 15 years in this hobby.however he contracts so many signings a year its hard to think why he would...i think its possable maybe a few years ago he was selling lots of fakes and cleaned his act up.still i wouldnt trust him as far as i could throw him
he is notouris for doing "cash and carries" with athletes under exclusive contracts with other compaines.would you want to do business with a person who has no morales

Thanks JS - didn't know that about ESP - I have af ew things from them that I bought through other retail outlets (Prosportsmemorabilia.com) and everything looks legit. I do know that some dealers have been known to use their good standing with athletes to pawn off a load of fakes...it's really a shady business altogether and that is why we are a part of this blog.

IF YOU GUYS WANT TO HAVE SOME FUN -Ask this guy if you will get the autograph in the picture. This is an example of someone who has been booted recently and has decided to try a new strategy. The only problem is that he is not only trying to steal people's money, he is an image theif.

Of course the seller of Ebay Item Number is "Sportsgraphs1." Although they are registered as a new Ebay ID we already know they are a old seller who has resurfaced to sell again. I already asked the seller "Will I receive the autographed baseball that is contained in your photo?" No reply as of yet and I don't expect one. Of course, the photos that seller has posted are authentic autographs and we will wait and see if that is what the seller delivers. The photos are Steiner Sports photos and yet the seller writes "THIS BASEBALL WAS SIGNED LAST YEAR IN A HOTEL IN NEW YORK CITY WHEN THE CARDINALS WAS IN TOWN TO PLAY NEW YORK.." We will see.....Chris W.

This is Sportsgraphs1,all my items are authentic, feel free to do a PSA online authentication on them. Yes Chris, you will receive the exact item you are bidding on.

Well, Mr. Sportsgraphs1, why don't you tell us what your previous Ebay ID was? We know you aren't a "new" Ebayer. Also, of course some of the photos on your auctions will pass "Quick Opinion," especially one like your Alex Rodriguez photo is a Steiner Sports photograph. I've already notified Brandon Steiner about that photo. Also your David Ortiz photo looks exactly like the Steiner Sports photo on their website. Come on, tell us Mr. Sportsgraphs1, what was your previous Ebay ID? Amuse us and fill us in......Chris W.

It's amazing also, Mr. Sportsgraphs1, that you had all of your autograph items signed at a hotel in New York. That's pretty incredible, Mr. Sportsgraphs1.....Chris W.

The best thing about this retard are his PROOF photos HAHAHA. Take a look at the Arod proof photo, it was taken was Arod was about 13. Funny, Arod signature as a rookie looks nothing like what it does today, yet that’s the proof shot. You’re a fool, how stupid do you think people are. I love the Big Papi photo... you crack me up, love the auctions, keep them coming so we can have a good laugh, and so you end up in jail.

At 6:48 PM , Anonymous j-man said...

Mr. Sportsgraphs1 i have a question about your "proof" photos... you say everything was signed at a hotel in NY, yet none of your "proof" photos i have seen are at hotels. are you really that ignorant? you can change your user ID, but you can't hide. i hope your stint in jail will teach you a lesson.

At 6:48 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Oh yea... please explain something to me. You wrote you obtained the Arod signature during batting practice last year. Ok... so then your proof photo should be of AROD as a YANKEE, in a YANKEE uniform because last time I checked they are in uniform for BP, not jeans, and they do BP on a baseball field, not inside a hotel room... and he should be about twice the age... funny how much you suck at lying. Nice try Fool. -J

Sportsgraphs1 :

I think that you are a funny guy. That comment about A-Rod being 15 is exacly what I would expect from someone stupid enought to post 10 auctions with images stolen from a multi-million dollar corporation. I mean, you are basically admitting guilt IN WRITING.

I also emailed you...no reponse of course - which shows that you are not even smart enough to craft a witty lie to con me into believing that you have legit goods.

Posting in this forum is a mistake on your part, but it is good to know that you are doing your research - and you know that we are tracking your auctions...

Since you have posted photos of the "actual" product, it will be interesting to see (if eBay is feeling greedy again) what your feedback looks like after your clients recieve a totally different product.

By the way, If I sent this item to PSA, they would laugh (I wonder how many of these they have seen already) and eBay would remove your auction. We are probably doing you a favor by not wasting our money to go there...

ALL NEW COLLECTORS: This is the PRIME example of what certain sellers will do to trick you into buying something that is probably not genuine. Ask questions, and save all of your information about the transaction.

sportsautographs guy is a fraud for sure.without even comparing the steiner photos its pretty simple hes got nothing but guys steiner will have on there site,a-rod,big pappa, hank A,etc

another dead give away is the fact that the image photos have been nicely photo shopped for a nice website like steiners but notice on each picture below the autograph there a cheap white square inserted to write something stupid like"authentic a-rod ball with proof"why did he put that in there?
i will tell you why to cover the steiner hologram that would be clearly visable

what hotel do you get your fake sig's from.i could arrange for psa to witness the signings for you

jeter_sucks, i hope you do make that phone call.. i just spoke to someone at steiner about "sportsgraphs1" and he said unfortunately they are "not the ebay police" so there is "nothing they can do about it" i told him "that's a shame because ebay won't either"

i did not ice too how he covers up the steiner hologram on his pictures. it's a shame that an uneducated person would trust this jerk. even if there werent steiner holograms to cover up, i bet a rushed signature in a hotel lobby wouldn't look as clean as in the pictures.
so jetersucks, make that call.

welcome J. it's always nice to have new people here who are on our side.

what is everyones view on this item.. 170076141796 it is a signed ball, including legendary yankees catcher thurman munson. the signatures on this look great, and the description says the ball holder was stored wrapped in foil to protect the ball from UV fading.

i cant make a honest opinion on the allstar baseball with lacking knowledge regaurding the signatures.however it appears to be signed with the same pen or 2 at most.that could be good or bad.hes claiming it came from the actuall allstar game in 71 so most of those sig's could be done at the same time.it does show age but i would sniff it for dog food first/lol
no matter what he return plolicy is u could send it to psa if it fails file a paypal claim and he loses

jman your comments are money on steiner.like i said they just dont care.saying there not the ebay police.thats b.s..all they dont to do is sign up for vero and all it takes is a simple fax to ebay to have auction removed.ebay doesnt even get to be part of the deccison.its a done deal
thats why my name is jeter sucks.i should change it to steiner scusk

on the tiger woods ball thats funny but check out this other item hes selling 220076184804
elvis presleys autograph on a index cut.notice how sharp it looks in his photo.he has a nice camera and took it under nice lighting allowing the quality of the item to stand out.notice theres abslutey no discoloration on the sig cut whats so ever.thats something to be graded and slabed if its real.notice the autograph looks crisp and clean.when did elvis die?50's 60's?the signature does apear to flow very nice with no stop points but again this is a piece of paper.he could of practiced this 100's of times with barley any expenses

Never got into celebrity collecting. BUT, if I was going to start, I would surf around for some good examples of signatures. Elvis is one of the more coveted dead celebs out there, and I have seen a bunch of these mounted "signatures". First, I found a seller with 3 PSA certified cut Elvis autos...here is one: 190003812231

All of the real ones show wear - and are from hurried "in passing signatures...one even has a photo of him signing. The mounted one looks to clean to be authentic...and after looking at the other sigs, it's not really a match. Since the seller has the Tiger ball in his listings I would use that as an excuse to pass. His integrity as a seller is gone. My two cents.

At 2:42 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

yeah i looked at the same ones before i even posted the elvis thing.i wonder how many times that photo of elvis signing something has been used in the past

im have tried to tap the music and stars market in the past because nobodys really brought out a 100% legit company that offers only items signed through paid private and public signings but knowing that you can buy a fake 8x10 on ebay of a guy or girl i got to pay 80 bucks just to sign it i find the deciding factor to stay away.i also think 90-95% of the autographs for tv and music on ebay are fake but i do belive that a person who lives in holloywood could make a honest living being a in person autograph catcher a lot quicker then with sports
ebay does take action against sellers in the sports catorgory all the time but i think theres less experts or pro active ebayers really caring about tv and music

Just a quick note about entertainment autographs on Ebay. There is no doubt that at least 90% of the entertainment autographs on Ebay are fake (more tainted money in Meg's pocketbook). I already wrote of a ex-seller on Ebay who sold over $500,000 worth of forged autographed guitars on Ebay from various rock groups (again, more tainted money in Meg's pocketbook). Ebay does nothing about that part of Ebay......Chris W.

Below is an email I received from our friend "pjuice1757" who sells those fake autographs of Tiger Woods:

Mr. Perch, I apreciate your concern once again. I assure the items that are for sale are not fake. I contacted Ebay and they advised I was authorized to sell the items I have posted. I also contacted my supervisor and he advised that if you continue to harass me with your email, then I was going to make a police report for harassing emails, which is a crime. I am selling real merchandise, I am sorry you feel different. My boss is the one who goes to these events so he witnesses the autographs.

So please keep it civil and stop emailing me. Maybe go to your own job and focus more on your career rather than worrying about me and what I am doing at work. Also I provide refunds for people who are not happy, so if your not satisfied with purchase then you will get your money back. Also in your case if you do not like the item, THEN DON'T BUY! So get a life and leave me alone.

By the way, "Jeter-Sucks" makes a very point in the fact that Steiner Sports really doesn't care. Why they wouldn't want to get involved is beyond me, especially since many Ebay sellers steal the photos from the Steiner website and the tons of fake autographs from athletes that they have under contract are forged on Ebay by the thousands. Very puzzling.....Chris W.

Look I would say thi s I have dealt with Ted and Mr. Stevens on an occasion for a few years here and there. There expertise is really in Old Philadelphia A's and Phillies memorabilia --- stuff like that --- and occasionally I may question them on stuff they authenticate for CC sports auction. Chris Morales is a fraud (in my opinion) I don't think he could authenticate my a***ole if you get what I mean. Look I have seeen stuff that I question even from Jimmy and even though they may want to stare me down and get insulting occasionally --- they are very good and usually will listen if you have some first hand knowledge of the situation. I have ha dalmost all my autographs authenticated by one of my favorite sources out there. You just have to pick and choose and be careful of what you buy. If you think it smells -- don't buy it.
