New eBay Fraud Method
We have never seen this one before -- we always see the eBay spoof e-mails that come through with links that go to phony websites in an effort to get you to put your password in -- however this person is contacting our bidders through eBay's system and trying to get them to send money for their current bid.
Take a look at what the e-mail looks like:
It looks pretty legitimate when you get it and that is what makes it so convincing. Beware of this scam we have already contacted eBay and they are working on this now.
This is what the text of the email says:
I'm the seller of the item that you've recently bided through the eBay system.Item name: WILLIE MAYS Signed Jersey FRAMED GIANTS FANS DELUXE Item number: (190095362756) I`ve just been contacted by the eBay staff who informed me that due to some reasons the eBay policy automatically proclaims you to be the winner by default. I need your agreement on this so I can contact eBay to confirm you that you're the winner, otherwise I'll relist the item. I am sorry for the inconvenience, but I need an answer asap. You will have the oportunity to purchase the item at your last given price wich is US $107.50 .If you agree my offer please respond this email or contact me at cociadr@gmail.com . Thank you!

This should immediately be detected as a FRAUD. eBay NEVER does anything on their own that is initially of any benefit to the buyer.
In auctions with unusual circumstances it is always the buyer who has to fight to eventually come close to breaking even.

Check out some of the Derek Jeter, Babe Ruth and Mickey Mantle items. Especially look at Lot Number 275. Some of the stuff is authenticated by Chris Morales who "never saw an autograph he didn't like."
Check out the garbage from Ebay Seller "Suprby65." Check out this really bad Derek Jeter (Ebay Item Number 280098160408). His Pujols and Arod autographs are bad fakes, too.
I am noticing that more and more of these sellers are using 1-day Auctions to avoid detection of their fake autograph items. I noticed this morning Ebay Seller "Sportsguy20000" using 1-Day Auctions to sell his fake autograph items.
Well said, Cardinarky. Ebay always protects the buyers first because that's where the profits come from, even the tainted profits from those that sell the forged autograph items.
I think more and more buyers are finally catching on your sellers like "dqbean252." I noticed he hasn't had much bidding on his fake autograph garbage. Also, I have yet to receive a reply from Coaches Corner about some of their auctions. Some of their Derek Jeter autograph auctions are obvious fakes. I save the photos of those auctions that I know are fake.

PSA/DNA (psadna.com) are good with mainstream autographs that have little or no variation. I have used them with an item that I knew was real, and they rejected it. Call it strict, I call it incompetence. Many buyers still trust them. I would guess that they are about 85-90% accurate.

One of the main reasons I want these bad guys to post comments in this blog is because they reveal themselves more and more each time they write. This blog is all about the fake autograph memorabilia industry and our exposing of those that taint the collectibles industry and exchange money for fraudulent autograph items whether they be fake autographed sports memorabilia or fake autographed entertainment items like a forged Paul McCartney "High In The Clouds" book in which the seller claimed he stood in line at midnight at Barnes & Noble in New York waiting for one of the limited wristbands that allowed them to get their book signed by Mr. Paul McCartney. The seller who claimed all of that in his auction sold that book for $499.00 even though it failed "Quick Opinion" and I still have the "Quick Opinion" result in my folder. So you bad guys, keep on posting your comments.

TIP: When someone with a better job than you has an infinite supply of disposable income, it is easy to use the PSA QUICK option to have eBay remove your auctions. So, every time, you decide to list one of your crappy fakes, I will immediately send it to PSA.
I would gladly spend 7 bucks to watch you lose $300. PSA might be wrong 50% of the time, but they Always think your stuff is fake.
Now, scrape together enough money from your rest stop escapades - and buy some more cheap replica helmets...

Ebay just removed two obvious fake autograph items. The first one was a fake SD Chargers team-signed football helmet from seller "Alwayz_Rackin05." It was Ebay Item Number 330103623144. Ebay must have finally gotten my message: Seller "Alwayz_Rackin05" is now "Unregistered" on Ebay. The second fake autograph item that Ebay removed was a fake David Beckham autographed jersey. This was the fourth David Beckahm fake autograph item that seller "Pjuice1757" was attempting to sell. He has already sold 15 fake Tiger Woods golf balls. The David Beckham auction was Ebay Item Number 230109901529. Both of the aforementioned items have already been removed by Ebay. I hope Ebay will also take the appropriate action against seller "Pjuice1757," too.
