OJ Simpson's Sports Memorabilia Income Scrutinized

OJ Simpson's attorney was on Fox News the other night being interviewed about Simpson not reporting income from autograph signings. Rumour has it that there is over $1 million dollars in autograph fees that OJ has not reported.

Alfred Beardsley is in the news because he recently planned and cancelled an autograph show that was supposed to be at Frank & Sons in the City of Industry, CA. Mercury News reports that Beardsley may have some control over some of Simpson's property.

According to OJ's attorney, anything OJ makes in the state of Florida is non-attachable.

Rice Memorabilia Sales On The Rise

I think some people thought that after leaving Oakland, Jerry's Raiders Memorabilia would be hard to sell. The fact is that Raider fans, who are some of the most loyal fans in the world, still love Jerry Rice and are sorry he is gone. In the last game they were chanting his name, wanting him to play. Rice never wanted to be traded, he was just lied to by the Raiders regarding his position with them.

Since Jerry has been traded, Raiders memorabilia sales have soared, actually Jerry Rice memorabilia overall is up on this trade. Raider fans feel that it will be harder to get Raider items from Jerry since he isn't there any more, so they are out collecting whatever they can.

As we reported here on Oct 19, Steve Largent let Jerry wear his #80. That jersey has been retired for over 15 years in Seattle. That is the kind of respect Jerry Rice has in the NFL and he will continue to be one of the most collectible players in the NFL for many years to come.

Fake Ruth COA: What a Moron!

This is from Richard Simon's web site, which is a great site regarding fake autographs, he found probably the biggest moron to ever sell on ebay! This guy was selling fake Babe Ruth items and he put a Scoreboard COA with it. Score Board started many years after Babe Ruth's death so they could have never witnessed him signing anything, and they would never issue a COA for Ruth stuff. Just shows you the mentality of some of these ebay sellers.

Fake Tiger Woods Autographed Picture

Here is a fake Tiger Woods signed picture selling on ebay for a $6.99 opening bid and a $36.99 Buy it Now price. What a deal if you don't mind that it is FAKE! Tiger Woods doesn't walk around signing things on the course, not when Upper Deck starts his autographed pictures at $999 on their site. You be the judge:

Now this is a baseball that I got signed by Tiger IN PERSON at the ESPY awards in Las Vegas on Feb 12, 2001 at the MGM Grand

And now look at an Upper Deck Tiger Woods Autographed Picture:

CLICK HERE TO SEE A LARGER IMAGE
See the difference? On the Upper Deck site, the above picture is selling for $1399. So if you had an autographed picture of Tiger, why would you sell it for $36.99? Only because you can get as many as you want (because Tiger didn't really sign it) and the photo only costs you $3!

Steve Largent To Let Jerry Rice Wear #80

Sources tell us that Steve Largent called Jerry Rice today and gave him the ok to wear #80 on the Seattle Seahawks. Largent was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995 and when he retired in 1989 he was the NFL's all time leading receiver.

Truly a classy gesture as Largent shows his respect for the greatest wide receiver in NFL history, Jerry Rice.

Jerry Rice Goes to Seattle

Jerry Rice is going to the Seattle Seahawks.

The Raiders never told Jerry he would have such a diminished role in the offense, and it seems the Raiders couldn't have done any worse throwing to the greatest receiver in NFL history. In fact, they have been blown out the last few games they haven't thrown to him. Jerry scored the one of the only touchdowns and had the most receiving yards in the massacre at the Super Bowl a few years ago, he is still in amazing shape and capable of making receptions so there must have been something else going on in Oakland.

Will Jerry still be collectible? Of course! He is still the most sought after 49er in history, second to only the great Joe Montana, he is a definite Hall of Famer, Super Bowl Champion, and holds records that will NEVER be broken. He helped get the Raiders to a Super Bowl and Raider fans loved him and will continue to love him.

His Seattle memorabilia will sell quick as soon as he gets there, but that will taper off pretty fast. 49er memorabilia will always be the best seller, followed by the Raiders, because Raider fans are very nostalgic and appreciative of players that put everything into the game. So yes, people will still buy Raider memorabilia because Oakland was a solid part of Rice's Hall of Fame career.

Jerry is also going to get a chance now to show people that he is not washed up and he will get a lot more media attention. If he makes a big comeback this year at 42 years old, his memorabilia sales will go through the roof as America loves comeback stories, especially when they are from people who are as likeable as Jerry Rice.

More Fake Autographs On Ebay

Here are some more fake autographs so you know what they look like. Not only do the autographs look wrong, they come with a generic COA. For example, the Joe Montana picture comes with NO Montana Hologram, the Elway picture comes with no Mounted Memories COA, the Namath just looks bad period. Be careful on ebay! Only bid from sellers who contract with athletes. Here is a link to the seller's auctions

Babe Ruth Bat On Auction December 2, 2004

The bat used by Babe Ruth to hit his first homerun in Yankee Stadium in 1923 will go on auction on Dec 2 and should bring around $1 mil. Is $1 mil worth it for a bat? What about the guy who paid $3 mil for Mark McGwire's 70th HR bat, bet he is sorry he owns that. I would think Babe's bat would be worth way more than a McGwire bat, he used it in 1923! If you could get this bat for only $1 mil I think you could make money on it, maybe you could flip it to Steinbrenner for $1.5 or a Red Sox fan so they could destroy it.

Maybe you can still get a smoking deal on a Babe Ruth bat from Angelo Marino, Tony Marino (Apple Valley), Barry Albert (Riverside), and the other frauds of the Operation Bullpen bust, they are probably out of jail now and back in business again.

Fake Kobe Signature Preprint Photo, ridiculous!

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, now people are selling PREPRINTS which are copies of autograph photos and the autographs they are copying are fake! Couldn't you at least photocopy a real autograph from Upper Deck? If anyone finds stuff like this, put the links to the auctions in the comment sections http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=14433&item=2276486687&rd=1#ebayphotohosting

Jerry Rice's "Best Show Ever"

Jerry Rice called this signing "The best he'd ever done" at the ALLAuthentic.com show on February 18, 2003 at the Ontario Mills Dave & Busters. There were probably around 1000 people that came out to see the greatest wide receiver to ever play in the NFL. It was like trying to get Michael Jackson in a limo, people were on top of the car, it was crazy. This is the kind of respect Jerry deserves and it is ridiculous to see how the Raiders are treating him. How can you forget to throw to the greatest wide receiver ever? Gannon says he didn't know about the record? You don't do that to a guy who has brought so much class to the NFL... unacceptable.

Phil Jackson to write a book about personal conversations with Kobe?

Phil Jackson is writing a book detailing personal conversations he had with Kobe Bryant. Something seems wrong with that.

According to the Mercury News:
"Jackson portrayed Kobe Bryant as a petulant, lying, jealous whiner who was trying to balance being an elite basketball player with fighting a rape allegation in Colorado. Jackson detailed private discussions he had with Bryant regarding Shaquille O'Neal, and a conversation he had with O'Neal and Rick Fox on whether he should force Bryant, for the player's own good, into a paid leave of absence."

He also said that Kobe complained about the private plane the Lakers paid for to take him to his court appearances and a lot of other degrading stuff.

Shaq and Phil are both gone, and Jerry Buss is on record saying that Phil's book has some inaccuracies. Was there something going on between Shaq and Phil?

This is a great picture from ESPN

Is OJ Going To Jail For Tax Evasion?

Rumour has it that OJ Simpson is being investigated for tax evasion, more specifically for not reporting over $1 million in income for autograph signings from his agent Mike Gilbert. An upcoming signing he was scheduled to do has been cancelled. If anyone has any further info, please feel free to comment!
